We hope you're okay...
If you're sick and burnt out.
I hope you're okay.
It's hard enough to post content consistently, but to do that when you are feeling unwell (mentally or physically), it can feel like torture.
Sometimes it can feel like this content creation world is built for burnout...
Every platform wants you to post multiple times a day, go live for 10+ hours a week and share your deepest darkest insecurities with complete strangers on the internet.
So I guess in a world that is constantly trying to keep up with an AI algorithm, we just wanted to send this email to let you know that it's okay to take breaks, slow down, rest and recover too.
We can't expect ourselves to be at our peak for 365 days a year.
Life doesn't work like that.
Grief happens, sickness happens, lack of motivation happens and sometimes life just throws a curve ball you were never expecting.
Whatever season you are in personally right now.
Maybe the answer is to just surrender to it.
If you are feeling inspired, creative and motivated - double down on that and have fun putting out all the content you want to.
But alternatively, if you are feeling like you are in a rut - maybe that's a sign you need to change things up a little.
Alessia and I have been full time creators for over 5 years now and one thing I know for sure is that creativity cannot be forced.
I can force myself to get on camera and record a video.
But I can't force passion.
Sometimes when one of us is going through a prolonged period of feeling uninspired, we like to try something new.
It's werid because as creatives we try to build systems to help us be more productive and consistent, but at the same time those exact systems are the things that make creating content feel a little boring after a while.
So if you are feeling like throwing the old rule book out the window and trying something new here are a few ideas to get you going:
📖 Read one page of a book and create a yap video about something that resonated with you.
📱 Call a friend and film with them.
🎨 Take yourself on a solo date and document the experience.
🌊 Plan an overnight stay somewhere and review the room/hotel you stay at.
🌝 Film a video at night, when you are in your pjs, just before bed.
It's important to remind ourselves that there are no RULES to this game.
We get to make them up. So why not make up some fun rules to play by!?
Maybe you just really don't want to be on camera right now though... and that's okay too.
Another thing you could try in an attempt to get your excitement back for content is to listen to podcasts.
I do this when I cant be bothered creating, but still want to hear about what creators are doing!
I'll link a couple below that you should check out:
✨ The Creator Advantage by Taz & Alessia
✨ Creator Unplugged by Jun Yuh
And finally, if you really don't want to think about being a creator right now, that's okay too!!
Let this be your permission piece - you don't have to be 'on' all the time. Sometimes a break off our phone is exactly what we need.
Social media will always be there, so put your mental and physical health first and come back when you are ready.
Sending you love,
Taz & Alessia
